@Meredith Miller, this is an excellent essay! I will share it far and wide.
Part of what we see in the growth of Substack is also the growth of commenting; people joining in community or in a place to go away from the totalitarian abuse. Many people complain it is just another echo chamber, but I think maybe it is a kind of therapy, a searching.
I also think we are seeing the hopefulness of many who think the totalitarianism is winding down. Like you said, they believe it is going to stop soon. But, it won't, and in a sad sort of way, I think that may be best. We can't get to alternate or parallel structures without the continued pressure and abuse.
"I think we will start to see forming parallel systems this year… media, banking, education, healthcare, and just about everything else." I pray you are right.
Anyway, thanks, I thoroughly enjoyed this essay and I'm glad I found you.
Thanks so much, Dana! I’m grateful to read and write on Substack, to have the opportunity to connect with like-minded community and share ideas.
In abuse recovery, we often refer to the toxic hope that victims can get caught in, thinking this time will be the time the abuser changes and things go back to the good times. But things only get worse until the exit.
I think there’s going to be a lot of big changes this year. Some will certainly be of the WTF variety and I think other changes will bring amazing opportunities for transformation and connection.
Creating parallel systems is definitely part of the solution but currently globalists own all of the Earth resources land, food, water, energy (I mean I can't even go fishing or have my own chickens without special permits etc). It is their system and there is really nowhere for us to go at the moment (kind of like being stuck with abuser under same roof not being able to go outside). Free energy would be total end for them though. They also are extremely arrogant which could be their downfall - thinking back to Chris Watts who agreed to have polygraph as he was convinced he can deceive everyone. This system will not last forever, but at what cost. Hugs!
We definitely have to get creative to find solutions where we can :) And I agree that their grandiose arrogance and pride will likely be their downfall. Big hug to you too!
Thank you Meredith, for an inspiring future oriented article. Let's abort this sinking ship. Now we can all recognize each other by the values we uphold.
My biggest fear at the moment is that this "breadcrumbing" of truth will serve as a much-needed pressure release, and usher those that are "awake" into an inappropriate sense of calm. This is what happened in my abusive relationship. Once in a while, he would own something, admit to his wrongs, and demonstrate shocking clarity on the nature of his actions + the emotional impact on me. But sure enough, the cycle of abuse would turn and would always escalate.
Breadcrumbing truth often ADDS to the cognitive dissonance.
YES! Soon I’ll write an article on the toxic hope. I really want to believe in the optimism of the tide is turning now but, like you, I also see the realism due to a lifetime of these relationships. The abuse always escalates and the abusers never give up the con. At moments it really seems like this will finally be the time you get the carrot and they change their ways but it’s an excruciating and frustrated fantasy that only leads to destruction.
I think it's important to define our metrics of success. A good example is the Canadian Freedom Convoy going on right now. I sure hope their demands are met, but even if they are, the system will remain abusive. Which is why I think focusing on reducing our dependence on this system will be essential to move forward. That being said, I think this movement is GREAT for morale and connecting with likeminded people/ building community!
