My father, a retired minister of a small ecumenical church, made a pertinent observation about connectedness. He is a warm, gregarious person who is both friendly to all and widely read, so an interesting person to talk to. He used to strike up conversations with strangers while in clinic waiting rooms or airport lounges. That all changed, he said, when cellphones came in. Suddenly no one seemed willing to engage with him. This process of disconnection has been underway for some decades now, sadly. Thank you for offering some healing words.

The Egopath does want to be the Central Bank of Social Status. It makes complete sense the only social bond permitted is each slave to the Egopath, not bonds between slaves.
